(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- In recognition of National Fire Prevention Month, children from the Academy for International Education Charter School and Bowman/Doolin K-8 Center will partner with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Office of Education, Office of Emergency Management and Target Team Members at the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training Facility, 9300 NW 41st Street in Miami, help keep children and their families fire safe.
Students will learn to recognize the firefighter as a helper and a friend, know the sound and purpose of a smoke alarm, learn how to crawl low under smoke and understand the importance of practicing a home fire drill using an escape map. The children will also practice fire evacuation techniques with the help of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Office of Public Education’s staff who will be operating the Smoke House; a mobile trailer equipped with a smoke machine to simulate a real fire!
The event begins at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 17th, 2012.
